Beschreibung von Marie Anne Martinozzi im Jahr 1647 von der Hofdame der französischen Königin/Regentin Anna von Spanien/Österreich, Madame de Motteville: "Mademoiselle de Martinozzi was blonde; her features were beautiful, and she had much sweetness in her eyes. She gave promise of becoming very handsome..." (in: Memoirs of Madame de Motteville, Volume 1, id., p. 201).
[im Jahr 1653] the Prince de Conti, unhappy at finding himself exiled [weil er in der Rebellion gegen den König Ludwig XIV. und den Kardinal Mazarin involviert war] and in bad odour at Court [von Ludwig XIV. und seiner Mutter Anna von Spanien/Österreich], gave up his ecclesiastical benefices and asked for the hand of Mademoiselle Martinozzi, niece of the cardinal, esteeming himself lucky to became the nephew of the man he had hated and despised. This marriage did not seem at first sight to be in keeping with the grandeur and birth of a prince of the blood; but the fortunes of Cardinal Mazarin were now so dazzling that he was able to raise his family to the highest dignities and thus efface the lowness of his race. The Prince de Conti found many advantages in the choice he thus made of Mademoiselle Anne Martinozzi; for, with beauty, she had much sweetness of temper, much intelligence, and good sense. These qualities, most agreeable to a husband, were perfected by her piety, which was so great that it had the honour to follow his in the stern path of austere devotion; but she had this advantage over him that she gave to God a soul all pure, the innocence of which was the basis of her virtue, of her love for him, of the esteem she had for his good qualities, and the gratitude she felt for the honour he had done her. The marriage took place in Paris, in presence of the king [Ludwig XIV.] and queen [Anna von Spanien/Österreich], February 24, 1654." (in: Memoirs of Madame de Motteville, Volume 3, id., pp. 90-91).
