Like all members of the Neapolitan House of Aragon, Isabella was allowed to decorate herself with the most important symbol of her dynasty, the ermine (lat. Mustela erminea). But in contrast to the male members and the queens of her family for example Giovanna of Aragon she could only use the ermine in its brown summer fur and not in its white winter fur. The Sforza-symbol of the bows shows us that she married into the Milanese dynasty of the Sforza. The depicted lady is NOT, as the art-historians of today claim, Lucina Brembati. The ring on her left forefinger bears NOT the coat of arms of the Brembati family. The coat of arms of the Brembati was a light grey cross on a dark blue background!
Since this is once again an identification portrait - the crescent moon bears the initials "C" and "I" - we know who her husband was: Cesare Sforza, the illegitimate son of Lodovico il Moro Sforza from his relationship with Cecilia Gallerani.
