This portrait of Verde or Viridis Visconti, which was made between 1579 and 1587 for the portrait-collection of the Archduke Ferdinand II. of Austria-Tyrol, is a pure fantasy-portrait. The painter Anton Boys had not the slightest knowledge about her. He only knew that the daughters of Bernabò Visconti had fair hair. He even decorated her with a wrong symbol or emblem, the lose knot of the Sforza (the two black thin knots at the shoulder) instead of the Visconti-knot.
